I live around the corner to this place it's a nice Mexican restaurant they could tidy it up a little though. But I go mainly for the fajitas and margaritas can't go wrong there. The chips and salsa I can go for by themselves.

Great place for a good, reliable, authentic Mexican meal at a very reasonable price.  Staff are always very friendly and the atmosphere is lively.  There is a separate bar area, but you basically enter it from the main door.  The main dining area is to the right with plenty of booths for any size party.  There is a small dining area in the very back if you need quiet or a little privacy.  There is also a small outdoor seating area, but I would not recommend it unless the weather is nice.

If you're in the drinking mood, grab a huge Dos Equis, or one of their flavored margaritas.  Huge and delicious, and again, very reasonably priced.  For food, I love the chili rellenos, but the tacos are also very good.  I'm a cilantro girl, but if that's not your thing, you definitely need to make a point to mention excluding it on dishes.

Bathrooms have been upgraded a little, but you still feel like you are going outside because they are way in the back off the kitchen and back dining area.  Just keep going, you'll get there!

There is always ample parking, but it does tend to get crowded, especially for happy hour.  Taking a ride share might be your best bet, too.  Hola! and Vaya con dios!

Living in James Island and being addicted to Mexican food, I've heard many people recommend "La Ha" (La hacienda) as a good option for authentic food. I am sad to report it did not live up to the expectation.

The place is easy to access and has plenty of parking, which is always a plus. Service and ambience were  good, but the food was just bad.

We started with the chips and queso. It was okay, not great. Kind of runny, but decent and edible. For the main course, I ordered a chicken sope.  The avocado on top of it was extremely brown and mushy and I had to take off those pieces. Really bad presentation to start the meal. The flavor of the chicken and consistency of  the dish were equally disappointing.

My companion had the Veggie enchiladas which came with red sauce and some melted cheese on the top. The dish was not impressive and kind of on the bland side.

Glad to check it off my list but won't be coming back anytime soon...

Worst experience at a La Hacienda.  Would not recommend this specific location.   My family and I love this chain and we were so disappointed in our experience here.   Slow service and horrible food.

La Hacienda on James Island isn't really the best for Mexican food. I mean it's ok since there isn't much competition in the area, but it's not all that good. The few times we have visited we have been treated nicely by the waitstaff and served promptly, but the quality of food was not really good. I ordered a combo dish with a chili relleno on it; which was basically a sliver of bell pepper topped with ground beef and melted cheese. The fajitas have been ok, but could use some help as well. The margaritas we have had have been on point with plenty of tequila; so keep that up.
